Finding a good quality Sumatran is difficult, but this grade 1, directly traded coffee is a fine representation of speciality coffee at its best.
Grown on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, this coffee is named after north Sumatra’s Mandailing people. Sumatra Mandheling coffee grows in Padang’s west-central region between 2,500 and 5,000 feet above sea level.
In the cup of this complex coffee, expect a huge honey mouthfeel & creamy sweetness, quickly followed by apples, a little spice and a long, gentle finish. As espresso with milk, expect to find notes of milk chocolate, topped with toffee sweetness, as well as almonds and a gentle touch of herbs.
